About Me

Hello!  I am pleased to be teaching Algebra II and statistics at DeSoto Central High School for the 2008-09 school year.

I am originally from Fulton, Mississippi, having graduated from Itawamba Agricultural High School and Itawamba Community College before moving on to Mississippi State University.  I graduated from MSU in 1992 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

I began teaching in 2002 at Amory Middle School where I taught 7th grade math and pre-algebra.  In 2005, I began working on my master's degree in mathematics at Mississippi State University.  While working as a graduate assistant at MSU, I taught college algebra for two semesters.  I graduated in 2007, when my family and I moved to Olive Branch from Columbus, MS.

My husband, Luke, teaches Biology I at DCHS, and we have a daughter who attends DeSoto Central Middle School.  We are proud to be DeSoto Central Jaguars!

In high school, I served as drum major and first chair percussionist in our high school band.  In college, I was a member of the Who's Who and the Hall of Fame, and I was first chair percussionist in the ICC All American Band.  I also received ICC's Most Outstanding Student award and the mathematics division award long before I knew I wanted to be a math teacher.

These days, in addition to teaching at DCHS, I am an adjunct instructor for ICC.  I will be teaching college algebra online during the fall 2008 semester.

Although I love teaching math, I enjoy other things, too.   Reading, walking, baking, and watching old movies are all on my list of favorite things to do.
